Credit Card for People with Bad Credit

Credit card for people with bad credit – does that sound impossible? Yes it was, but not longer now! May be it is due to the burgeoning number of private banks entering the business, and hence the associated increase in competition levels, that most banks have lowered their bars to accommodate more customers for their banking products, one of which traditionally is credit cards. For a customer, it is just about finding a suitable credit card scheme and submitting an application, and most of the times, the applicant will get a positive response from the bank.

The credit card for people with bad credit falls into three categories – secured bad credit card, prepaid credit card and bad credit credit cards. It must be kept in mind that credit card for people with bad credit card is totally different from the normal credit cards and the two types are ruled by an entirely set of different terms and conditions.

The first one, secured bad credit card is issued on a definite amount of security deposit, beyond which the customer will not be allowed to draw any money. The advantage with this type of credit card is that while the user can swipe the credit card for his needs, his/her credit ratings will also improve with time, thanks to the credit limit that is commensurate with the security deposit. In the event of the person defaulting on the repayments, the bank will deduct that much amount from the security deposit, and will cancel the credit card, thus preventing the person from making any more spending, until the person payback the dues completely.

Prepaid credit cards, on the other hand, work in a way similar to a prepaid cell phone connection. That is, the user has to charge the credit card to a definite sum - by paying money in advance – before could start using it. Analyzing the scene in depth, one could see that it is actually pseudo credit for the customer is not getting the chance to lay hands over any real credit, but only the services and advantages of owning a credit card. The payments he/she has to make in the beginning itself.

Finally, the last type, called bad credit credit cards itself, has the rules of a normal credit card, but comes with a lesser credit limit – usually as low as $250 – and comparatively higher interest rates. But, if the user, after obtaining and using the credit card, makes the repayments punctually over a period of time, then there are chances that the bank may raise the credit limit and liberalize the repayment terms and interest rates, a good extent to that of an ordinary credit card.

So, it is up to the customer to decide which credit card for people with bad credit is suitable for one’s requirements and income. But, care must be taken that the same mistakes are not repeated again, for if the credit ratings slump further, it may be virtually impossible to gain the trust of any bank in the country yet again.
